Library Foundation

The Newport Public Library Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization promoting private donations to enhance and enrich Newport Public Library's resources and services. The Library Foundation has established an endowment fund with the Oregon Community Foundation to plan for the library's needs far into the future.

Gifts and Accomplishments

The Newport Public Library Foundation has supported the following Newport Public Library projects:

The 2014-2015 Building Renovation. The Foundation contributed over half of the funds towards a $400,000 renovation project. Improvements include new paint, carpeting, furniture for the children's area and teen room, shelving, meeting room space, and computers.

Programs. With Foundation support, the Library carries out NEWPORT READS, a series of community events to encourage everyone to read and discuss the same book. The Foundation supports additional programs with community partners throughout the year.

Library Outreach Vehicle. The Foundation provided half of the cost for a new Prius Wagon for use by the Newport Public Library's Adult Outreach Service. The program serves retirement and assisted living residences, rehabilitation and recovery facilities, and individuals in their homes. Over 10,000 items are circulated each year.

Drive-up book drop. Proceeds from the Foundation Book Sale on the main floor of the library purchased a curbside book drop.
