Storytelling Workshop

Portland Story Theater

Lawrence HowardLawrence Howard and Lynne Duddy, the founders of Portland Story Theater, are offering a lively, interactive two-hour workshop on the contemporary art of personal storytelling. Participants will learn how to identify their stories and what it takes to share them with an audience. They will explore the necessity of vulnerability in storytelling, as well as techniques for bringing stories alive. They'll also learn about story structure, the power of presence, the differences between writing and telling, and how to select a story to tell.

Lynne DuddyHoward is a master at crafting engaging stories that often have listeners on the edge of their seats. Founder of Portland Story Theater, Lawrence draws from his rich repertoire of adventure, personal, and mythic tales to create narrative programs for people from all walks of life. Lawrence is best known as the creator of the Armchair Adventurer series, which include riveting stories about Antarctic explorers Ernest Shackleton, Douglas Mawson, Roald Amundsen, and Robert Falcon Scott.

Duddy is a narrative artist who creates captivating stories that draw listeners into the realm of real life. Founder of Portland Story Theater, Lynne draws from her rich repertoire of personal experience to create narrative programs for people from all walks of life. She coaches individuals and conducts workshops in storytelling throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Portland Story Theater strives to make the narrative arts an integral part of Portland’s rich cultural identity. Founded in 2004, the organization is committed to bringing an authentic story and theater experience to enrich, inspire, challenge and expand Portland’s urban environment through the narrative arts.
