Fire Chief - Phil Paige, EFO-CFO Chief Paige came aboard in August of 2011. He brings extensive experience from departments in California and Washington and is a welcome addition to the Newport Fire family.

Assistant Chief and Fire Marshal Rob Murphy Assistant Chief Murphy Joined NFD in 2003, and previously served as the Training Officer and a relief engineer. He is also a Paramedic and certified Fire Inspector. |

Training Officer Doyle Helmricks Doyle first joined the department as a volunteer in 2001 and was hired as the training officer/relief engineer in 2011.

| Engineer Richard Giles first joined NFD in 1978 and is the senior engineer on "A" shift. Richard is the most experienced and senior firefighter on staff. | |
| Engineer Todd Butterfield first joined NFD in 1981 and after years of volunteering went on to become the senior engineer on "C" shift. Todd is a specialist in building construction. | |
| Engineer Bert Johnson began volunteering in 1988 and is now the junior engineer on "C" shift. Bert is a mechanic and vehicle specialist. | |
| Engineer Tracy Cole began volunteering in 1994 and is now the senior engineer on "B" shift. Tracy is an Intermediate EMT and former Training Officer. | |
| Engineer Stacy Mathis began volunteering in 2000 and is assigned to "A" shift. Stacy takes charge of ensuring the Fire Station is stocked with disaster supplies. | |
| Engineer Andy Parker began volunteeering in 2002 and is the junior engineer on "B" shift. He is an Intermediate EMT and active instructor in many fire service classes. | ![]() |
| Engineer Christopher Rampley began volunteering in 2007 and is currently the relief engineer. Christopher works with SCBA maintenance and marine firefighting issues. | |
Jake the Cat joined the department in 2008. He currently holds the rank of captain to match his orange color, and assists in training for the department. Specifically, he has trained most of the staff to act as doormen and prepare his daily meals. As you can tell from the picture, Jake is a classic "C" shifter... UPDATE Jake left the department in the summer of 2011. While we hope he is out on the Fat Cat North American Tour, he may be chasing mice in cat heaven. He is missed around the station. |
