Meditation is the finest tool for physical, mental and spiritual growth.  It calms the mind, expands awareness, relieves stress, lowers blood pressure, aids in digestion, reduces risk of heart attack, changes emotional patterns, increases vitality, and helps the body heal.  This class is open to anyone who wants to learn how to meditate or is looking for a systematic way to practice.

Instructor Rennie Maguire has practiced a variety of meditation methods for the last fifteen years.  She received Meditation Teacher Training at the Institute of the Himalayan Tradition in St. Paul, Minnesota, becoming certified in August of 2009.

Qigong ("chee-gung") originated in China thousands of years ago.  It is enjoyed by millions worldwide for health, longevity, and wellbeing.  The gentle flowing movements and deep breathing vitalize the body while bringing peace of mind. We will explore a variety of Qigong routines. Qigong practice may be modified for comfort and current capacity and may be performed seated with benefit.

Meditation will be incorporated with Qigong as a complementary practice for short periods. The life-enriching benefits of Meditation have been broadly reported. It is easy to learn and enjoyable to do.

This class is suitable for beginning and experienced students alike.

Steven Ridley has taught Qigong and Meditation for over 30 years.  He is currently offering classes through Kaiser Permanente, Metropolitan State College, fitness centers and retirement communities in Denver, Colorado. He and his wife Lia (belly dance teacher), are summer residents of Salishan Hills.
