Picture Review of Past Trips

The Thyme Garden

The Newport Senior Center spent a relaxing day at the "Thyme Garden" in Alsea, about an hour and fifteen minutes from Newport.

The Thyme Garden, an Herb Company since 1990 is a family owned farm hidden in the magical coast range mountains of Oregon.

A guided tour of the green houses & display gardens along with a small conservatory was an intoxicating experience with its aromatic collection of exotic plants and the peaceful sound of water falling from two year round streams.

A gourmet lunch under the fir trees with an herbal focus, salads decorated with edible flowers, a main course, vegetables, breads and rolls with herbal teas and dessert was also enjoyed.

Tillamook Train Ride / Blue Heron French Cheese Co.

Having viewed Tillamook Bay, The Pacific Ocean, Nehalem bay and the Nehalem River Valley and enjoyed the sight of many lakes and other views this trip was definately a relaxing enjoyment that was had by all that attended.

We spent the day learning some historical facts as well as relishing in the informative staff and volunteers that we got to meet. Then on to the Cheese Company we went! Samples Samples and even more Samples were tasted by all. Not only Cheese but some of Oregons finest wines too!!

We took the day and seized out in the Country!

McDowell Creek Park Hike

Greeted by the lovely sights offered within Silver Falls State Park, we enjoyed a fun filled day of dazzling waterfalls at McDowell Creek.

Friends spent amongst each other, enjoying the walk through the park amongst its cataract-filled canyon and three major waterfalls. Beautiful Vistas of Royal Terrace and Majestic falls from the bridges and viewing decks along the tails of the lush greenery was a definate reward. Nature study and picnicing were a pleasure to be had.

Kayak Tour at Ona Beach

Two hours spent exploring the fascinating Beaver Creek area.

A fine forested ocean flat developed for extensive daytime shore use. With easy access for beachcombing. It was a great area for a large picnic gathering and the fun that was enjoyed within the Kayaks.
