Basketball Announcements

Congratulations to the Newport Magic- Lincoln County 7th Grade Boys Champion (Photo)

Congratulations to the Newport Nukes - Lincoln County 8th Grade Champions (Photo)

On Saturday January 9th, Middle School basketball teams from across Lincoln County congregated at the Newport Recreation Center for a fantastic day of basketball. Lincoln City, Siletz, Eddyville, Toledo, Waldport and Newport, all had teams in the Tournament. Everyone in attendance, regardless of which team they were cheering for, should have been impressed with the hustle and determination all the athletes displayed. The day was especially sweet for Newport fans though. Both the 7th and 8th grade finals were played between Newport Teams. In fact of the 5 Newport Teams in the Tournament none lost a single game to anyone other than another Newport team. The 7th grade final featured the Newport Woodsmen taking on the Newport Magic. After a competitive final game the Newport Magic finished off their season without a single loss. The 8th grade final was just as exciting, the Newport Storm showed great heart playing with some bumps and bruises they had accumulated though the previous round of play. In the end the Newport Nukes proved to be too explosive for their sore opponents. Capping off their undefeated season with another resounding victory.
