Parking Tickets
Parking enforcement in Newport helps ensure that parking spaces remain available, accessible, and safe for everyone. If you have received a parking ticket, you have several options for payment or contesting the citation.
How to Pay a Parking Ticket
You may pay your parking ticket in any of the following ways:
- Online: Secure online payment is available 24 hours a day.
- By Mail: Send a check or money order payable to the City of Newport to the Municipal Court. Include your citation number.
- In Person: Payments are accepted during business hours at the Municipal Court located at Newport City Hall.
Fines must be paid by the due date listed on your ticket to avoid additional penalties.
Contesting a Ticket
If you believe your parking ticket was issued in error, you have the right to contest it. You must contact the Municipal Court on or before the appearance date noted on your citation to schedule a hearing. During the hearing, you will have an opportunity to explain your circumstances to the judge.
Failure to Respond
If you do not pay or contest your ticket by the due date:
- Additional late fees may be added to your fine.
- Unresolved citations may be referred to collections.
- Your vehicle registration renewal may be delayed until the fine is paid.
