For information about the City of Newport Retirement Plan, please review the following sources. For non-union employees hired after March 5, 2012 and for employees represented by the Newport Employees’ Association and non-police officer employees represented by the Newport Police Association hired after October 15, 2012, please refer to the “6 Plus 6 Defined Contribution Retirement Program”. The Plan may be restated from time to time and can be amended by the City Council at any time. Amendment No. 4 was authorized by the City Council on March 19, 2024. This amendment addressed vesting schedules and increased the City’s match of defined compensation to 6%.
