HEALTH & WELLNESS

ARTHRITIS EXERCISE

When: Every Wednesday and Friday
                    9:30 am - 10:30 am

This class was designed specifically for people with arthritis and related diseases. The program's multiple components will help reduce pain and stiffness, and help maintain or improve mobility, muscle strength, and functional ability.
  MEDITATION CLASS

When: Every Tuesday
                    9:00 am - 10:00 am

The meditation that will be taught has its roots in Zen practice. In our everyday lives we can see how complex life can be and how we need to have a place to relax and catch our breath. In this class you will learn that this place of rest already exists in our own bodies. The most important point is to learn how to simply sit and be comfortable and restful - a practice and tool that can be applied to any life endeavor.

STRENGTH & BALANCE

When: Every Tuesday and Friday
                    1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The Better Bones & Balance Program classes are designed to gradually improve balance and strength to avoid falls and maintain independence. This a video-led class.
  SILVER SNEAKERS CLASSIC

When: Every Tuesday and Thursday
                    10:00 am - 11:00 am

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a Silver Sneakers ball are offered for resistance.

CHAIR YOGA

When: Every Tuesday and Thursday
                    11:15 am - 12:15 pm

Chair Yoga accommodates people who can't get up and down easily from the floor. This style of yoga can be a very complete workout that increases flexibility and strength, while incorporating breathing techniques that are both energizing and calming.
  GENTLE YOGA

When: Tuesday, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
                    Thursday, 2:30 - 3:30 pm

Enjoy a relaxing stretch-type class that is available for all levels. You must be able to get down and up off the floor. Modifications available.

TAI CHI

When: Every Thursday
                    1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

With just one hour a week, gain the tools for self-revitalization with a time-tested practice that will promote healing, relaxation, fitness, immunity, balance, and mental calm and clarity.

Tai Chi Health Institute certified instructor Craig Shafer guides you through easy, safe, and effective movements that promote mental and physical health. Positive change begins with just one small step at a time. Beginners always welcome. No additional fees.

  TAI CHI FOR HEALTH & FITNESS

When: Every Friday
                    11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Tai Chi for Diabetes and Prevention, designed by the Tai Chi for Health Institute, is beneficial for people with diabetes, pre-diabetes or anyone who would like to improve health, balance, immunity, relaxation and quality of life. No prior knowledge of Tai Chi is required. Enrollment is limited to 15 people.

Tai Chi for Diabetes and Prevention, led by TCHI certified instructor Craig Shafer, is safe and easy to learn.

MOVE WITH MARY

When: Every Monday
                    10:00 - 11:00 am

This is a 50-minute exercise class that starts off with a warm-up and moves into various exercises using weights, a ball, or a stretch band while standing or sitting. This class will improve stamina, flexibility, and balance. All abilities are welcome.
  DANCE WITH MARY

When: Every Monday
                    11:15 am - 12:15 pm

This is not just a workout. It's FUN! Check out the variety of dance moves we can have fun with to our collection of music CD's.

LINE DANCING (Refer to level below for schedule)

  • Easy: Every Wednesday, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
  • Improvers: Every Wednesday, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
  • Intermediate: Every Wednesday, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Are you looking for a way to stay fit and healthy? Line dancing can give you a great mind-body workout. It improves memory skills by requiring you to remember dance steps and sequences. It can help strengthen bones and muscles, increase stamina and flexibility, improve your posture and balance, and give you the opportunity to socialize at the same time.
  SOCIAL BALLROOM DANCING

When: Every Monday
                    1:30 - 2:30 pm

Easy-to-learn fun and social dance. Great for all ability levels. Bring a partner or come by yourself. Footwear - no heels or hard sole shows (class is held in the dance studio/wellness center), though you may wear socks if you are comfortable with that. Timing will depend on participant comfort.

JI SHIN SELF-HELP

When: Monthly (Click link above for schedule)
                    1:30 - 2:30 pm

This is a gentle, hands-on healing art form from Japan that promotes body, mind, and spirit harmony by balancing the body's life energy flows. It involves light, noninvasive touch on specific areas of the body while fully clothed, similar to acupressure, but without needles or pressure. The practice aims to alleviate physical discomfort and emotional stress, spark the body's regenerative abilities, and support overall health and a sense of space.

  TAI CHI FOR FALL PREVENTION

When: Every Monday (Feb. 23 - May 18)
                    1:00 - 1:50 pm

This enjoyable Tai Chi program is focused on relaxation while increasing balance, mobility, strength, and flexibility. We begin with one form, then slowly add movements so that by the end of the program, participants will be able to practice the complete 12-16 form sequence from home. Participate from home or at 60+ in this program delivered via Zoom and in-person.

WALK AND ROLL

When: Every Monday (Feb. 2 - April 27)
                    2:00 - 2:50 pm

This class is designed for people who have chronic pain or fear of falling. It helps to build strength, stamina, and self-confidence.
