Aquatic Center Rules
It is up to the discretion of the lifeguard on duty to determine if a behavior is unsafe. All lifeguard directions and instructions must be followed
- All children age 6 and under are required to have an adult present in the water within arm’s reach at all times
- All children between ages of 7 to 13 are required to have a responsible adult on deck providing direct supervision of the swimmer at all times
- ALL swimmers must take a cleansing shower prior to using the pool and after using the toilet
- DO NOT swim if you have had diarrhea in the past two weeks, or a disease communicable by water.
- Swimmers who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper
- WATER AND ALCOHOL DON’T MIX. No person under the influence of alcohol may use the pool
- NO RUNNING or ROUGH PLAY
- NO GLASS OR PLASTIC THAT CAN SHATTER is allowed in the pool area
- NO FOOD or DRINK in the pool.
- NO DIVING ALLOWED except in designated areas
- NO ANIMALS in the pool area
- U.S. Coast Guard approved personal floatation devices only
- No outside inflatable floatation devices permitted
- Do not distract the lifeguards on stand.
- Appropriate swim attire only. Please see our swim attire policy for more information.
- No outside street shoes on the pool deck. Spectators should remain in designated spectator areas.
- Please respect the scheduled times of programs and leave the area of the pool when another program is starting. Refer to our posted schedules for the appropriate time to attend your desired program.
- Lifeguards on duty are in charge and are there to ensure your safety. They will enforce rules that help keep everyone safe. Please respect the Lifeguards.
- No prolonged or repetitive breath holding
- No deck changing/nudity allowed. All changing must be done in the locker rooms.
- Swimmers under the age of 14 must pass a swim test in order to go in the deep end or lap pool.
- Do not use dive blocks. Dive blocks are for use during competition and lessons only.
- Please follow all safety rules posted at the facility.
- The City of Newport Aquatic Center management reserves the right to ask any person to leave the facility if they refuse to follow facility rules, are distracting lifeguards and inhibiting their ability to safely monitor the pools, or it is otherwise determined that the individuals’ actions are producing an unsafe situation.
Spa Rules
- You must be 14 years of age or older to use the Spa.
- Fifteen (15) minutes maximum duration in the spa. If you desire a longer soak, pool staff may ask you to exit the spa for a brief time before re-entering.
- On occasion the spa may be closed down for cleaning and maintenance. We will do our best to provide a 24-hour advance notice of these closures.
