The City of Newport and regional partners work together to protect the safety and well-being of residents, businesses, and visitors. Public safety services include law enforcement, fire protection, emergency medical response, and emergency preparedness.

Police

The Newport Police Department provides 24-hour law enforcement services, crime prevention programs, and community outreach. Officers patrol neighborhoods, respond to emergencies, investigate crimes, and support public safety events.

Fire

The Newport Fire Department delivers fire suppression, rescue services, hazardous materials response, and fire prevention education. The department operates multiple stations and maintains readiness for a variety of emergencies.

Emergency Medical Services

Emergency medical care in Newport is provided by Pacific West Ambulance, which offers paramedic services and patient transportation in coordination with local fire and police departments. Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital also serves the community with emergency department care, inpatient services, and specialized treatment.

Emergency Management

The City of Newport and Lincoln County Emergency Management collaborate to prepare for natural disasters, severe weather, and other emergencies. Residents are encouraged to sign up for alerts and maintain emergency plans and supplies.
