Gerdemann Botanic Preserve & 804 Trail HikeYachats, ORTuesday, May 20, 202510:00 AM - 5:00 PMDriver will be Gordon Petty.Standard fee is $10 with a $5 discount for 60+ Activity Center members.Come join us for a hike in the beautiful Gerdemann Botanic Preserve. The Preserve contains many unusual plants, from southern hemisphere shrubs and trees to significant collections of magnolia, camellia, and rhododendron species and hybrids all nestled amid a vibrant native coastal habitat. Many beautiful plants can be enjoyed while wandering the public footpath leading from the road to the entrance to the Siuslaw National Forest. The Gerdemann public trail passes through a wooded hillside facing the Pacific Ocean, bordered by the Siuslaw National Forest in Yachats, Oregon. Following a picnic lunch (provided by the 60+ Activity Center), we'll head to the Yachats 804 Trail, which takes advantage of some easements on the rocky shoreline at the northern end of Yachats. Bird and sea life are abundant here, so keep your eyes open and take your time. At various places, there will be descents, some easy some more difficult, down to the rocks themselves. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and walking/hiking shoes. Pack plenty of water and energy bars. This hike is rated as easy to moderate.

Adelman Peony Gardens’ passion for Peonies began when Carol Adelman was a young girl, when she admired her neighbor’s peonies from across the street. Throughout the years her love for peonies grew which resulted in her planting a few of her own. What started out as a hobby, soon became a commitment to grow the highest quality true to name peony roots. Adelman Peony Gardens is proud to be known around the world for having excellent quality peonies and commitment to perfection. Immerse yourself into peony paradise. With 30 acres of peony fields and a 2 acre display garden to stroll through, there is something for everyone. The Schreiner’s have dedicated three generations and more for breeding and growing the finest Irises in the world. Their growing fields are constantly monitored during the season to ensure you receive top quality plants. With just over 100 acres of bearded iris being cultivated, you are sure to find the perfect one to add to your garden. Lunch will be on your own.

Oregon Coastal ExcursionRockaway Beach, ORTuesday, June 3, 20259:00 AM - 5:30 PMDriver will be Gordon Petty.The standard fee is $55 with a $5 discount for 60+ Activity Center members.This 90-minute round-trip excursion meanders by Tillamook Bay, the Pacific Ocean, Nehalem Bay, and through the Nehalem River Valley, and passes by many lakes and gorgeous panoramic views that can only be seen by rail. The Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad is a registered non-profit museum organization. They are an all-volunteer organization that operates over the former Southern Pacific and Port of Tillamook Bay Railroads. They operate regularly scheduled trains between Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach in the summer months. |

Lebanon Strawberry FestivalLebanon, ORSaturday, June 7, 20258:30 AM - 5:00 PMDriver will be Gail Brown.The standard fee is $35 with a $5 discount for 60+ Activity Center members.The Strawberry Festival’s Grand Parade is one of the major highlights of the festival, dating back to the Festival’s beginning in 1909. The Parade showcases over 130 entries. Spectators can expect around two hours of entertainment with everything from dance groups, marching bands, floats, motorcycles, “The World’s Largest Strawberry Shortcake”, and everything in between. At the conclusion of the Grand Parade, the Festival begins! Everyone can enjoy a piece of strawberry shortcake along with a carnival, food and craft vendors.

The Oregon GardensSilverton, ORThursday, June 12, 20258:00 AM - 5:00 PMDriver will be Gordon Petty.The standard fee is $35 with a $5 discount for 60+ Activity Center members.We are an 80-acre botanical garden, featuring more than 20 specialty gardens showcasing the diverse botanical beauty that can be found in the Willamette Valley and throughout the Pacific Northwest. We have specialty demonstration gardens for everyone, including the Sensory Garden, Rose Garden, Children’s Garden and Medicinal Garden! We are a pet-friendly garden and offer a narrated tram tour daily from April through October. The Oregon Garden is committed to sustainability and education. Our grounds feature a number of demonstration areas touching on topics relevant to residents of the Pacific Northwest. The Rediscovery Forest is managed together with the Oregon Forest Resources Institute, and educates visitors on the practices and importance of Oregon’s forestry industry. Our wetlands and A-Mazing Water Garden represent a unique partnership with the City of Silverton; these areas of the garden cool the City’s effluent water which, in turn, is used to irrigate the Garden. Guests will also see sustainable practices such as green roofs, home composting, permaculture and more on display. Visitors will also encounter plants of great historical and cultural significance, including our 400-year-old Signature Oak, an Oregon Heritage Tree, and our Hiroshima Peace Tree, a gingko descended from trees that survived the 1945 bombing of Hiroshima, Japan.

Creator, Roger Tofte, took fifty-five years to create all of the attractions that you will see as you explore the park. With four generations of the Tofte family working at Enchanted Forest, the tradition and creativity will be carried on for many years to come. Some of the attractions are: Storybook Lane, Tofteville Western Town, Old European Village, Fantasy Fountains Water-Light Show, Pan For Treasures, Comedy Theatre, Ice Mountain Bobsled Roller Coaster, and so much more!
