Newport Recreation Center Announces January Closures

The Newport Recreation and Aquatic Center has announced several facility closures scheduled for January 2026 to accommodate youth programming and special events. The public is encouraged to plan accordingly.

Complete Facility Closure:

Wednesday, January 1, 2026 – The Newport Recreation and Aquatic Center will be closed all day in observance of New Year's Day.

Large Gym Closures:

Beginning Saturday, January 11, 2026 – The large gym will be closed every Saturday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM for youth basketball games. This weekly closure will continue throughout the basketball season.

Small Gym Closures for Skating Programs:

Friday, January 24, 2026 – The small gym will close at 4:00 PM to begin setup for the evening skate night program.

Saturday, January 25, 2026 – The small gym will remain closed through Saturday morning for an additional skate session and will reopen to the public at 1:30 PM.

Athletic Edge Gymnastics Meet:

Thursday, January 29, 2026:
   - Large gym closes at 9:00 AM for event setup
   - Small gym closes at 3:00 PM for event setup
   - Track closes at 5:00 PM for event setup

Friday, January 31 through Monday, February 2, 2026
   - The track, small gym, and large gym will remain closed for the duration of the gymnastics meet.

Tuesday, February 3, 2026
   - All areas of the facility will reopen to the public at regular operating hours.
